Do Anthropolgists study old gadgets and their effect on humans?

Do they compare gadgets, furniture, inventions of ancient humans and compare them with those of today? Or is this the job of Archeologists and Historians? I saw a documentary about gadgets on the Discovery Channel, it's really interesting.

Archaeologists study material culture, which would include gadgets.  So, I would think that would be the field to be most involved in what you are talking about.  As for the relationship with anthropology, in America archeology is part of anthropology.
