Question:

Do Apes share food with one another?

I just read about experiments in cooperation among animals and I was wondering if there is any known evidence of Apes providing food for one another. That is, does one ever seek out food and give it to others? The hunting and foraging behavior outlines I have found all indicate imitation within groups. One animal finds a good source of food, or a good technique, and the others, including the infants, profit by imitation but are never given the fruits of another's labor. Does anyone know?

  1. Adult wolfs provide food for their young.  The lion pride shares the kill.  Birds bring insects back to a nest to feed young.  Penguins travel long distance with fish for their chick.  One of us is missing the point.  I am not real sure what it is you are seeking.  But yes, animals share food.
