  1. Seemed to have been doing fine up until recently. Pressure must be mounting.

  2. Qantas has an impeccable safety record.

  3. It was only an undercarriage door that shrouds the wheels.

Nothing to write home about, it is just the press s**t stirring again and trying to make a mountain out of a molehill.

  4. feck pilots. would you trust a photographer to help you in any situation? they'd only tell you they best light to carc it in.

  5. I think it's Skippy trying to make a comeback, sabotaging things, then saving the day.

  6. Considering a Qantas flight has never crashed, I'd say they are pretty safe.

  7. A maintenance factor, but best avoided. I think the blown panel has got this airline into the spot lights, with an otherwise exceptional record. Happens to the best of us.

  8. Jedi, you need to read more carefully and perhaps learn more about airplanes.  The article explains that this incident involved a landing gear door, rather than a cabin door.  The landing gear doors are part of the landing gear retraction mechanism, and are not under direct control of the pilots.

Sticking gear doors are a common mechanical problem in big birds.  Usually nobody's fault, really.

Quantas has an excellent safety record, and the Australian aviation industry is as good as any in the world.

  9. No, they hang corks in the doorway to stop the flies getting in!
