  1. Deenie, seeing as the other dude hasn't answered you.....

From a white Australian point of view, "The Dreaming" is mainly about creation stories. The Rainbow Serpent was the main creator of the big landforms. But there are lots of other Aboriginal stories to explain all sorts of natural features  e.g. seven funny looking rocks may have a story about how they were seven sisters that got turned into stone. Lots of stories about why the crow is black or why the turtle has a shell.

There were about 200 different Aboriginal languages being spoken before the white man came so I imagine each tribe would have had it's own stories and legends.

Don't know how spiritual Aboriginals were in the past but mostly now they are too caught up with practical problems. Also a lot of their spiritual stuff was tied in very closely with their traditional lands which of course they have been separated from.

And "lack of attention to time" may sound cute and mystical but not so good when Aboriginal people have agreed to be somewhere for a committee meeting or whatever and then simply don't show.

  2. I don't know how one would define "parapsychological techniques" since the techniques and experiments are all designed according to the standards of the science that the ex perimeter holds a degree in. In other words Helmut Schmidt (link below) who is a trained physicist used the techniques of physics for his experiments. Psychologist would use the techniques of psychology, etc.

Clearly as indicated by your second link the Australian Aborigines have practices/rituals (techniques if you will), beliefs, and possibly not yet fully understood or described by science human abilities that are of interest to people in the field of parapsychology.

Thank you for posting some interesting links.

Just FYI it was the anthropologist Margaret Mead who observed apparent paranormal phenomena and thought it worthy of scientific study. Due to her efforts while she was the President of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (link below) the Parapsychological Association (link below) was voted as an affiliate back in 1969.

So, anthropologist and by extension native people has long been an interest to parapsychologist.
