    Once you arrive in Uruguay, a customs official will stamp your passport with a 90-day tourist visa stamp.  

    To renew it, just take the Buquebus and pop over to Argentina for the day, and then return to Uruguay (where they will restamp your passport with the tourist visa again). OR, you can just go to Immigration and pay a small fee for an extension.
