  1. The fish will be happier and grow much larger and be more colorful if you buy JUST ONE. I had a Jack Dempsey by himself in a 180 gal. and he lived for many years, becoming almost like a dog. He would eat from my hand and get excited when I came in the room. If you just HAVE to have all these fish, I would suggest buying multiple tanks and separating them. If you crowd them all in one tank, they will just kill each other and make a dirty tank.

  2. Before you go that far, I think you need to be looking at your tank size.  Don't you realize these are NOT community type cichlids?  These are RULE THE TANK types.  You are not going to have much peace in a tank really unless it's a very large one, I'm talking like a 150 or up.  Because these are the rule the tank types, you must add significantly more space, regardless of whoever is trying to sell you the fish tells you.

  3. It really depends on the size of tank you have.

As long as they're all the same size, and introduced at the same time, and not already too large for they're habitat you should be okay.

If you introduce them all at the same time (or, rearrange everything in your tank), new territories can be established safely.

I was just talking to the guy at my local tropical fish store and he has an oscar, a jack dempsey and two green terrors of all the same age in size in a 55 gallon.

anything smaller i don't reccomend, though.
