  1. Nope. Just make sure you clean the tank once a week, give clean water everyday, wash out the water bowl with a water-bleach solution every other day and clean your hands before you touch 'em.

  2. They are just as dirty as you are i would say. Just don't stick a snake in your mouth and you won't have to worry about catching salmenalla. ;-)

  3. people worry about cooties too much.  snakes carry disease, dogs carry disease, cats carry disease, humans carry disease.  i hold my snakes while i'm eating i havent gotten sick yet.  i keep their cage clean after i feed the snakes when it take them out of their feeding tub i wipe the snake down with a wet lukewarm terry towel.  its all good.

  4. Everything is covered with bacteria at all times. The world is gross. Reptiles can carry salmonella though, so always wash your hands after handling it. Don't l**k it, either.

  5. almost all captive bred reptiles are carriers of salmonella.  good hygiene after handling will take care of any worries.

  6. Not really. I've kissed my snake before and i've never gotten sick from him. It's really rare to catch anything from them, you just wash your hands incase.

  7. All things in this world are covered with bacteria, regardless of how much you disinfect it. Imagine, Clorox rids 99.9% of certain bacteria, but that .01% will multiply at light speed once the disinfectant begins to wear away. (This is my personal opinion, I'm not a microbiologist to be certain)

Since you can't clean your snake with bleach, sure it will have bacteria, just like a dog has bacteria. Keeping the enviroment clean however, may help reduce the amount of harmful organisms that may want to set up camp on your pet. All reptiles though, can carry a version of Salmonella so make sure you wash your hands, and don't l**k your python. :)

  8. Not really. If they aren't taken good care of they would have more. Cleaning their cage regularly would also help. Just be sure to wash your hands with soap after handling bps or any other reptiles.

  9. ball pythons and most other snakes are much cleaner than turtles and other reptiles, people get worried about disieses on turtles like saminila but snakes are much cleaner.
