Question:

Do Betta fish lose their fins over time?

When I first got my Betta 8 months ago, his back fin was round and full. Now, its more of a V shape. I do weekly water changes and the fins that he does have appear healthy (not fraying). And he still is active and swims around a lot. Should I be concerned about his back fin?

  1. Bettas are very prone to fin problems. If its not frayed and doesn't appear to be disintegrating its been torn either by decor, tankmates or the betta's bitten it themselves. They can also "blow" fins by overflaring.

It should heal overtime provided the water is kept immaculate and the fin is kept free from infection.

  2. uhh i dont think so i think it has fin rot. you can ask me anything just message me, id be glad to help.

  3. Hmmm... Bettas have something called their "PEAK" period...

This s the period whereby they looks FANTASTIC and really really pretty.

When u buy them at the fish store, it should be around their peak period...

once u bring them home and all... their peak period will slowly die down, as they die down..... Their fins will not be as beautiful or charming.

People around the world exercise their betta by flaring an hour a day to maintain their beauty and hope to extend their peak period.. But well, it will eventually die down 1 day...

=) hope it helps my friend
