I have a red and a blue Betta fish in a divided tank. The blue Betta has been looking weird. He is shedding his blue skin and looks very strange. He eats very eagerly and doesn't appear to be in any pain. The red Betta hasn't been affected visibly by being in the same tank.

  2. Not at all.  If their scales are sloughing off, it's a sign that something is very wrong, usually too much pressure inside the body.  Not only that, but the lack of scales leaves them very open to infection.  Test your water for ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate, as these would be the first obvious causes of just about anything.  Step up your water change frequency and look for any other symptoms.  If only a few scales are missing, it's nothing to worry about, but a whole patch is a very bad sign.

  3. No

  4. Bettas never shed their skin.

your betta is probably sick try changing  the water and  add some vitamins.

mabey is the food that your giving him. change the food.

put the red betta in a different container so that he wont contaminate what what ever  the blue betta has.

    hope this might help

  5. I don't think they do.

  6. No they don't, or at least they shouldn't be. call a pet clinic or a vet, or event the pet store they might know whats wrong.. my guess is it had an illness and i mean in less your really attached to the fish it isn't worth spending 20 dollars on medication to help a 5 dollar fish.
