Do Blue-Ray players only read blue ray discs?

I have soooo many homemade discs I made with my HD DVD recorder. I transferred my vhs tapes onto DVD...

Will the Blue-Ray player read these dvds?

  2. if you have an HD-DVD recorder, unfortunately it will not be able to read these discs. Blu-Ray and HD-DVD are incompatible with eachother. (unless you buy a dual player which will you run you about $600-$800 right now, OUCH!). If you used a regular DVD recorder....the blu-ray player will read those and any other Standard DVds just fine.

  3. the HD-A2 standalone HD-DVD player is now under $90. The A3 will be similar soon. Or, you can get an LG Blu-ray/HD-DVD reader drive for your PC for just above $200 right now.
