  1. why not? dvd's came before blu-rays , so its obvious that every older version will be played.

  4. blu ray is compatible with all current optical media technology appart from HD discs...so cdrom/dvd etc are all fine.

    if you have ps3 you can watch blur-ray or standard dvd discs etc with no issue at all..the same with standard blu ray players.

    some blu ray players allow what is called "upscaling" which is the ability to change a standard dvd format into a hidef format by using software to digitally enhance the picture quality....certainly the ps3 can do this with dvd films and some blu ray players are now shipping with this ability. Its not true Hi-def but it ceratinly can make a better picture quality on a large lcd tv.
