I'm getting a bit bored of all the news coverage of the upcoming US election, i swear the British elections don't get as much news coverage here as the American ones do!

  1. Only if we have politicians with a bit of charisma, which isn't very often. Tony Blair and Margaret Thatcher are well known in the US but the dull ones like Gordon Brown or John Major not so much. I think US politics is a lot more about image than in Britain. If we started putting film stars up for office that would get a bit more news coverage over the pond!

  2. well you really only have to look at the 2 countries Britain is an old country and is more sensible as it is meaning proper and civilised where as america it seems too flashy and more of a joke it seems, we get political party broadcasts but nothing really on the same scale

  3. I know right? Everywhere you turn all you see is AMERICA!

I like the USA and don't get me wrong, I like to know what's going on over there but I want to know more about the British elections when they are happening too!

  4. Most Americans dont know how you're elections work, I do believe they think the Queen controls everything like the old days, we dont understand your parties either, and how much power the Prime Minister has or how he gets elected by the people.

  5. The long answer is no

  6. Americans only care about what is going on in America.  Most of them don't even know who runs England.  I'm from Canada and most Americans don't know a thing about my country and it's so close to them !  Americans are very self-centered and they have the world brain washed into believing that their country is the only one that matters.

  7. Nope America may say who has won but that's about it.

The truth is America don't really understand how the UK elections work. I should know I have to explain them almost everytime to my partner who is an American)

  8. In my opinion, the British elections are not broadcast in the US nearly as much as the US elections are probably broadcast in other countries around the world.

As an American who watches and listens to the news pretty regularly, the last British elections might as well have been a small tagline in any regular news program.  As I recall I heard about the candidates once and then heard that a new Prime Minister was elected in another.  That's about it.  World news doesn't usually make huge headlines in the US.

I reiterate that this is just my opinion as I don't have any statistics to back any of this up.

  9. Strange isn't it?
