Do you wish your country was democratic? Or is it wrong to state your opinion? I am really curious about this. I often wonder if British people ever feel like some of them could do a great job running the country, but never will get the chance because they don't come from a "Royal" family. Who exactly chose the royal family. Did they just picked the richest family or what? These are things, that I have wondered about for awhile.

  1. We've had our Royalty for centuries and are very proud of them, well, i am!!! Mind you, the UK are so lax in letting in mis-fits,illegal immigrants, etc etc that we're feeling that our country isn't our own but its not our Queen's fault - its the fault of her stupid government - she doesn't pick the government - she leaves that to us!!! Oh what mistakes we make!!! I for one love having Royalty overseeing my country, our history is long and varied and full of intrigue and scandal - if i was to begin to tell you i'd have to copy-right it and start a book ha ha ha.

  2. Well, do the Americans get tired of constantly having to elect a new president? The election campaigns starts almost two years before they're supposed to vote!

  3. The British government is democratic and has been for some time.  The Queen is merely a figure-head - sort of a historical bond that unites the country to it's history.

  4. Yes. It's ironic that our soldiers are dying in Iraq and Afghanistan so that those people can elect their own president. I've never heard anybody suggest that a constitutional monarchy would be the best government for those countries.

Perhaps one day the British people will have somebody fighting for their democratic rights
