  1. tea time is like a word used for dinner.

if you go out for a days shopping you have AFTERNOON TEA occasionally - you go to a cafe and hav tea n sometimes a cake.

but otherwise sometimes ppl have a break called 11sies or summet like that... lots of names.... where you have a drink n biscuit..... but mainly thats farmers or other jobs like that.

so we have tea but its another word for dinner

  2. Yes I think they do.

  3. Yes, it's a fine tradition!

  4. yes, but tea time is the evening meal which may not include tea, it doesnt in my house we only drink tea with breakfast.

  5. The middle to lower classes of the old days made afternoon tea into dinner time.

The upper classes always dined and took tea at around 4 pm with finger sandwiches and scones or whatever, even Battenburg cake.

Tea was usually taken at 11am - elevenses, and at 3.30/4 pm.

This used to be a social occasion where you sometimes had people over for tea.

It was also a time that a mother could socialise with her children, who had dinner earlier than the parents.

Today funnily enough the Brits drink more coffee than tea, especially around London. This is the influence of the Continent. On the weekend in London you can hardly hear English spoken at all.

I like my British Blend tea, having grown up in the Colonies, and have never dropped the habit. I boil the water, warm the pot, and drop in 2 teabags per 1 pint of boiling water. I let it rest with a tea cosy, and then pour a little 2% milk into a tea cup, following that with the brewed strong tea out of the pot.

Nothing can be more refreshing. I do not like sugar, it spoils the taste.

  6. yes they do have tea time everyday around 12:00pm and 5:00pm they drink many kinds of tea the put sugar cubes or cream in there tea but mostly they drink earl grey tea even the queen drinks it ...kool huh?

  9. yes, tea time is our evening meal, like dinner.   We do drink tea by the bucket load, it tends to be "tetley" rather than "earl grey" as most of the British populas don't get payed as much as the Queen! haha!  the time we have for drinking tea by the way is called a "tea break".  toodle pip!
