Question:

Do CFL refs call the game fairly?

In recent CFL playoff games, there have been some calls that have come out of absolutely no where...and it's been like that for years! Some think that the refs are favouring a certain team...others think that they are taking bribes and still others think that they are simply just stupid and cant call a game to safe their lives. What do you think AND WHY!????

  1. I don't think they are unfair, just untrained.  These are part time officials who get paid squat.  Slightly above amateur.

  2. I think the refs try their best.  I refuse to believe referees are biased and taking bribes or stuff like that... and if it is ever proven that it has happened then heaven help us.  I think it's a combination of refs making mistakes (and boy there are some doozies!) and players complaining in an attempt to subconsciously influence the refs to make a call for them next time.

  3. You are dealing with part time officials who get very poor training and the pressure goes up in the playoffs causing them to blunder in a larger scale.

Simply put, they likely make the same errors in the regular season, but the plays don't matter as much and their not under as much of a microscope.

Is a ref favouring one team over another, for any reason...I doubt it.  Sometimes they get their back up when a player accuses them of such and the player's b!tching causes the ref to call against them...vicious circle, IMO, specifically in the case of the Argos.

  4. NO WAY .

    ASK THE ARGOS

  5. I think they must be top quality refs..or they would not be use in the playoffs. Mistakes happen..I get upset when they happen to our Lions..boy did it ever seem that way on Sunday.  But we ate the penalty's and won! Cant wait for Grey Cup! Go you Lions Go.

  6. Referees call the came as fairly and correctly as they possibly can.  Mistakes, which everyone makes in their own daily jobs or life, are the result of human error.

Also, have you ever noticed that "bad calls" are only made against the team you are cheering for.  The team they are playing always seems to be getting all of the breaks.  Maybe "bad calls" are really a matter of perception and the "refs" actually are doing a pretty good job.  ( I've never heard anyone complain about the bad calls that were called to benefit their team.  Let's give the refs some slack.
