No, they dont, its all mentality and most of the time they cant help it

Depends if it's at home or at work. If it's at work, most companies and corporations have guidelines for management to follow. They are not there to make friends, but to make the investors more money to feed their selfish needs. Most of these people are young because an adult won't put up with their c**p. Young people think its their fault and just keep working their butt off for them because they don't want to lose their car or cell phone.

     At home though, this controlling person might be bringing their work home with them and they don't even realize it. People in a authoritative type job start to believe in this roll model and begin to become this person on a day to day basis. It's so slow that they think they are the same person as before and everything is normal until a friend or loved one can't take their c**p anymore and leave.

It's a type A personality.  They can't control it until they realize that they can control their personality.

Yes to a certain degree everyone is aware of their shortcomings.  The key thing for you is to not play their game.  If you keep silent, don't stand up for yourself or speak up then you're just as much at fault.   When you become more assertive and refuse to be controlled, the controlling person has no other option but to change the way they treat you.

they don't realize you should talk to them and tell them and then some people want to change but ya they all don't realize they are

I don't think they notice every time they are doing it.. I think they realize it more when everyone gets sick of them controlling them...
