I heard that competition is fierce among chemical engineers in the workplace. Is it true? I would like to become a chemical engineering one day so I want to find out as much as possible about the job. Thanks!

  1. Actually, Bernie is right. Because its a diverse field -( the reason why they are called "Universal Engineers"), there's a lot of oppurtunity for you to have in the future. You can even take the place of a Chemist if that's what you want, but that shouldnt be the case.

They need a lot of Chemical Engineers lately, so I dont think, competition will be the problem.

If you really want to pursue this career, go for it. Lets face it- others may disagree but for me, its the most difficult among engineering disciplines so you need to save your powers when you get there!

  2. No, what ever carrier you take if you are in a competitive workplace the competition is fierce. Chemical Engineering is a diverse course, you have to decide what concentration you want to take (i.e. Biochemical, Environmental, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, process and etc.). But if you are looking for a lucrative salary you can take foresic or biomedical engineering.
