I am thinking about maybe joining the Clayton County, GA Police Department and was just wondering if they get take home patrol cars.

  1. None of the departments let you take police cars home. When you finish shift another officer comes and uses that car.

  2. In the past year there have been some changes to the Take Home Car Policy for the Police in Clayton County. The Clayton County Board of Commissioners voted to stop police officers from taking home cars if they live out of County, citing the cost of gas.

But as recently as July 1st the Board of Commissioners has approved more take Home Cars at the request of Chief Turner.

I don't have any connection to the police department to know how they decide who gets to take a car home but if Chief Turner is requesting more take home cars and the commission is approving them, then there must be some officers taking cars home.

Good Luck Ben, I hope you find your answer.
