Or do they still have special place in the heart for the venerable nightstick?

  1. My taser is in my trunk (only because I have to have it on patrol by policy).  The nightstick is by far a more effective tool.  I used to carry my taser and had it come up ineffective at least 3 different times.

  2. Whatever works in a given situation.  Either is preferable to a handgun.

  3. If I was a cop, I'd use a taser more than a nightstick.

  4. Yes they do. They will look for any excuse they can find to zap you. Better be nice to them while they're working you over!

  5. A Taser is often a better option, as it causes no lasting injury.  Obviously the "nightstick" could leave bruises or even break bones.

  6. Gaining control or compliance with a tool or tactic least likely to cause injury to the offender or officer is always a plus. In my opinion a conducted energy device (Taser is a brand name) is superior to a nightstick in most situations.

  7. Cops love it when people are decent and go along with a given situation without turning violent.

I have never heard an officer say" Man tonight really sucked. I didn't get to zap, bludgeon or shoot anyone". Most would be quite content to never get angry or have to fight. It is the offender that calls most of the shots on a given call.

When these tools are used, all of a sudden the offender feels there was no honor in this. The police aren't there to do honorable battle. They are there to do a job but I agree a person may not like how the job was accomplished but that is usually a very personal opinion brought about by a real desire to have things their own way.

  8. The offender dictates when the taser is used, not the officer. Their  "love" does not figure into it.

  9. Yes they do,

but I think they still prefer to break bones using a nightstick.
