Question:

Do Cory's Always Pick on Bettas?

So I've been watching the fish get acquainted with their new tank here for the past few hours while I'm doing homework.

The extremely hyper-active Cory catfish has now gone after George, my Betta twice, one time knocking right into him.

Do they do this often or is it just because they're still getting used to one another?

I'm fully prepared to move George to a different tank if it become necessary.

He's not bothering anything; he's just floating, minding his own business.

The one cory is being a punk.

And before I thought the cory was an oto; looked it up and they're definitely cory's. That's for anyone who may have answered my question earlier and I told them I had two otos. =p

  1. In my experience nothing gets along with Bettas, everything will pick on him. The Betta should have his own tank.

  2. Well, cory or oto, they are both a schooling fish and need to be in groups of 3+, that may pre-occupy him away from the betta. I think they are just getting used to there new tank.
