Do Coyotes like dogs?

I was getting ready to take my dog a cocker spaniel out for his regular night walk, when i got a call from my sister saying their was a coyote out in our neighbor hood, and coyotes arent freindy with dogs, is that true?

Coyotes love dogs - especially for lunch.

They will eat any dog or cat under 30 pounds.

It's a big problem for people who run hunting dogs.

Coyotes often die from mange and a dog can get it if they roll in a dead carcass.

They are becoming nore common close to cities.

They will not come near a human walking a dog.

Well there are many stories of house pets bonding

with wild animals but I'd keep an eye on your dog if I were you, I doubt

they'd bond and no one wants to see bloodshed.

Yeah, coyotes are not safe.  They will hunt small pets.  

Fox are timid and small and won't hunt your pet.  They will stay far away from a dog.  But they will run so make sure your dog doesn't chase one.  They could end up out in traffic.  And I'm sure the fox would try to defend itself if cornered by a dog, so that's one vet bill you don't want.

Coyotes are horrible. The pack in my neighborhood are so used to humans that they aren't afraid and they are aggressive. I was on a evening walk with my Labrador when I turned around to see 3 bounding at me. My Lab chased them and they seemed to be afraid. But I called her back because I have heard many stories of Coyotes actually luring 1 dog to a huge pack that will be hiding around the corner. Coyotes are sly.

As for Fox. We have those too. They arent as dangerous and stay pretty well hidden for the most part. They are clever too. I saw one try and fool the neighbors cat who was stupidly trying to sneak up on the Fox. The Fox would look a way casually as if he didnt notice... then I ran out and shooed the Fox away and grabbed the cat. But....you really dont need to worry about Fox. They are shy.
