  1. No. They identify themselves by culture. I am a black Dominican and I know and embrace all my ethnicities. I think Puerto Ricans identify themselves as Puerto Ricans and Jamaicans identify as Jamaicans, and so on. I am sure we all know we are of African descent.


  2. Even though almost everyone in the Caribbean has African ancestry, a lot of them try to deny it. Many Cubans.Dominicans & Puerto Ricans insists they are by no means Black, but are Hispanic...Even though Hispanic is a culture, not a race:S

  3. In the Caribbean, I don't think so (I don't believe they have sections on their forms asking about race like America does.) Speaking as someone from a multiracial Trinidad family, most Caribbean people really put more pride in their nationality than in their ethnicity. Trinidad is one of the more diverse islands, yet there are not many issues with race at all.

  4. Some define themselves by race.  Others define themselves by skin color or are defined by others that way  - 'morena', 'negrita'
