Will a daycare require me to place a down payment to hold a spot for me? If so how much do they typically charge?

  1. Some do, some don't.  You'll just have to call and ask.

*Since prices vary greatly between different daycares and from state to state, there's no way to give you any kind of an estimate.  Its must simpler (and more accurate) to just call and ask.

  2. Most require half a weeks tuition per week of vacation.  I have seen some that charge full tuition to hold the slot.

If you are referring to holding the slot until you need it (as in the case of  waiting for your baby to be born), most charge full price.

Check your handbook or call and speak to the director.

  3. .sometimes but not always you should call and ask first

  4. Most daycares require a deposit.  The daycare I put my daughter in required a $50 deposit.  And her weekly fee is $160.  Two things to remember though.  One, it doesn't matter if your child goes one day or all 5 days a week, it still is the same price every week.  Second thing is, if your child doesn't go for a week because maybe they are sick or you are on vacation, you still have to pay for that week.  I found that last one out the hard way.  Because my daughter was sick and out of daycare for 2 weeks, yet I still had to pay for those 2 weeks she didn't attend.  They say it is part of the teacher's salary.  I still think it sucks.
