I'm not trying to be ignorant. I'm sure that they're totally different, but I always get Detroit and Chicago mixed up. Does anyone feel that way?

  1. Growing up an hour north of Detroit, I would say no.  They both have high crime in certain areas, although Detroit is known as the Murder Capital.  It seems to me that the two cities are always competing against each other; with the exception of the Cubs, the cities share teams in the same division in the NBA, MLB, NFL, and NHL.  Chicago is a larger city and higher tourism rates, but Detroit has Motown and the Big Three car companies.  Chicago, at least from the outside, seems like it has a goal in mind for where they want to be, while Detroit seems to be stuck in a rut economically.

  2. Um, no, Chicago is way richer and modern. Detroit is a dump. You can't mix them up when you've been to each one. Chicago actually has people in it, has shopping in it, landmarks, schools, whatnot. Detroit is just a ghetto with ghetto convenience stores, casinos and dilapidated buildings. Chicago is bustling. Visit them sometime, you'll stay in Chicago 1 week and leave Detroit at least within 10 minutes.
