Because once you've been caught with them, the persecution never ends, your job prospects die, you lose your current job, and not because of drugs, but because of prohibition and fascist anti drug tactics employed by governments and employers.

  1.  So... the reason why drugs are illegal are not because they are dangerous. It is all about control of what goes into our bodies. For example cannabis sativa: it is a Class A drug however it has been proven multiple times to be not only harmless but beneficial to health (obviously inhaling any kind of substance other than oxygen is detrimental to health - a healthier choice would be to incorporate THC into foods). The reason why it is illegal, however, is the fact that 1. The government can't make money on it. 2. The government CAN make money on paper companies, pharmaceutical companies (that make artificial THC, if you can imagine), oil companies, etc... 3. Cannabis Sativa was criminalized to put pressure on minority groups that were well known to use the drug (African-Americans in the jazz scene, migrant workers from Mexico, etc).

I cannot speak for other drugs because I find them absolutely deplorable (especially cocaine, crack-cocaine, and meth-amphetamine).

I agree with the statement only for those who use marijuana (and only safely meaning no driving and no bothering other people who may disagree with it's usage) that law enforcement ruins lives more than the drug itself. Who can say that they sold their children for an ounce of Trainwreck? Who can say that they've been "jonesing" for some sweet Hindu Kush?

Anyone who does is either lying or they are a medical anomaly.

Remember - the government WANTS you to do drugs... only THEIR drugs!
