  1. Well, assuming we're talking Rugby...

I don't really know the English selection, but I can tell you this, South Africa has a very strong team this year, so does NZL and Aus.

Should be quite a good show, looking forward to it!

  2. Any team stands a chance, but the squad is not as strong as it could be.  Maybe Brian Ashton sees something in Andy Farrell that nobody else does! Ge might be able to tackle poeple who run straight at him, but he is now too slow to catch people who run at the gap, or to sustain any type of break himself!

Losing Dave Strettle and Mike Tindall was a big blow, as well as Dan Ward-Smith.

  3. no, rowntree and smith should be in there. england wont win

  4. England have been on a steady decline since the last world cup and after the six nations, I would have said that they didn't have a chance but they have gone back to a very forward dominated game. This should mean that their games will be low scoring so if they do keep it tight and concentrate on winning the majority of posession in their games, they have a chance of sneaking a win against anyone. They're not going to look like anything special in their games, as their backs aren't good enough but you don't need to look good in your games to win.

  5. I don't think England stand much of a chance with any selection from the current crop of players. But it's not the players but the teams lack of direction for the past 4 years, that's to blame.

Having said that, I think this team (under Ashton's short leadership) has a better chance of getting further and playing better than I had given them previously.

Maybe now I can dream about the semis rather than hope for the quarters.

    (edit)

As to the Farrell thing - with Tindall injured it might be worth gambling on that extra place.

Shame about Strettle, but the rest would have been pretty close to my pick. Remembering that it's late in the day and we need big match experience as much as raw talent.

  6. I do believe that they stand a chance, yes everyone knows since the last world cup that they have played pretty badly however, it was in part to do with many of the strong experienced older players retired after the world cup. The team has spent the last four years, training new younger guys and helping to make the team gel again with the remaining older players. I am not sure if England will win, but I think their recent improved form put them in with a good chance.

  7. I don't know who's been selected!

    Is Jonny playing?

  8. Nope, they'll be out in the quarter finals

  9. According to the bookies, no, especially at 18/1, but i think we've got a chance

Catt was an outstanding inside centre and AF is similar in many ways (slow, great tactical kicking, fantastic distribution off of both hands) so i think that we've got a better chance than most assume. Will probably still get spanked by the saffers though!
