  1. Sweden, UK, Switzerland e.g. use their own currency. So even all new EU countries (Czech rep, Poland...)

  2. We still use our currency and we should continue to do so.  UK is an island and we should stay that way, who wants to join Europe and lose our identity?

  3. uk and switzerland still use there oriognail money not euros

  4. Alot of the western nations use only Euro or both Euro and their traditional currency. In the East, most are continuing to use their traditional currency, however some are accepting the Euro. I wish I could remember the list (google.com ?)

We are also trying to become Euro compatible in the US, although hardly anyone knows of it, so they might drop it (like our plan to convert to metric; 12in = foot, 3 feet = yard 142...  yards = mile)

check out some curency exchange site too.

my favorites www.xe.com (it is closely monitered by many commercial and exchange commissions)

  5. Countries that changed-over to the euro no longer use their national currencies.  UK, Denmark and Sweden still use their own currencies as they have opted out of the currency area.

All new members of the EU have to become part of the Euro area eventually.  Slovenia has already changed over and Cyprus looks likely to be the next, for these countries its economic requirements which decides when they change-over.

As for the answerer that said she doesn't want the UK to loose its identity the EU doesn't take that, it encourages it, Untiy through diversity is the EU's motto.  Actually the EU is helping promote the identities in Wales and Scotland through cultural grants and funding.
