Do FBI checks only check for felonies & do BCI&I checks only check for states that the check is done in.?

I'm a teacher & I'm thinking about moving to another state. I have 2 minor-misdemeanors from 10 years ago. If I move to another state (IE California) and they do an FBI check, I should come up clean, right? (I do not have any felonies) & when they do a BCI&I check - that should only be for California, right?

They find out eventually and you are fired. If they are minor misdemeanors - explain them. Then they will be a matter of record and never come back to haunt you.
