My cousin served 5 years for assault and is getting released in a week. Our family has a BIG party planned at a catering hall for when he comes back home.

Do most families do this? Are people usually so accepting of relatives getting out of prison?

  1. NO you do not only thing that is doing is telling your cousin that it ok to assault someone and you all are ok with it

  2. Having the immediate family meet him at the door of the house with hugs is appropriate. A bash is definitely not. I realize you're celebrating his getting out, not his going in; but it's still an acceptance of his incarceration. Personally, I would refuse to attend such a thing.

  3. no, i don;t have any family that been to prison.  my in laws is another story.

  4. Well if your cousin has did his time and knows what he did is wrong, I see no problem. Everyone is glad to see him I bet. But I have never heard of it before. Have Fun at the party.
