The austrians are angry cause austria doesnt belong to germany.

And some germans consider austria as part of germany.

It is by the way a compliment to be called german ;)

Austria is a country of its own, and therefore Austrian should not be named Germans.

Although there is sometimes an ironic background. When Austrian call Germans as "Piefkes" they get answered: "And you are the Germans of the alps".

To be honest, I think they don't really care. I think Austrians make a bigger deal out of this situation than the Germans. But I do know where you are getting at. Based on your question, it seems as if Germany is the "big brother" to Austria and Austria is an independent nation that doesn't want to be seen in that light.
