Do HDMI cables need to be HDCP compliant?

Looking to use an HDMI splitter so I can use my TV or PC monitor as the display for my Xbox 360 (but not at the same time).

Both displays are HDCP compliant - do I need to make sure the splitter is as well?

  1. Yes

  2. While the answer is yes I really don't see an HDMI selection device not being HDCP compiant as it would be next to useless without it. Make sure the HDMI device works the way you mean it to. For example a speaker wire selection box would work both ways(so you could either select between pairs of speakers wired one way or you could select between amplifiers when wired backwords) but HDMI requires 2 way communication and the device isn't a dumb switch it should be a repeater system so make sure the selector device is designed to switch between screens and not sources.
