  1. Yes, they are aweful..invest in a silent wheeel, eases the noise.

  2. 1) yes it does get on your nerves if your tired an not asleep before it comes out but also my friend finds it comforting...she cnt get to sleep without the noise

2)they can be noisey if the wheel is squeky or it bangs into something

  3. 1) It does get on your nerves if their wheel rattles

    2) It is noisy, but if you put som oil on the bit that the wheel spins around on, then it stops it rattling, ans you can hardly hear it at all.

You can also get these 'silent spinner' wheels that dont make any noise, but they are quite tall, so you would need a tallish cage.

    Hope this helps :)

  4. at first it gets on your nerves but once you get used to it wich takes at least a week it doesn't matter anymore.

  5. 1) i had to put my hamster in our living room because he kept me awake all night.

    2) yes it can be noisy, especially when they run really fast on them

  6. 1) I have had a few hamsters but there was only one hamster which got on my nerves when it was on the wheel because it used to run so hard the cage shook, but it depends on the hamster and the wheel.

    2) As I said only one of my hamsters was noisy in the wheel but they do make some noise. I guess it mainly depends on how energetic the hamster is. It is probably best not to have it in your room to begin with though, just in case. We keep ours downstairs so we can't hear them XD

  7. READ THIS 1 well the same thing happened to me but then me and my dad found a silent spinner its a wheel but it dose not make noise u can get it at most pet stores

    1) NO

2)NO because of the silent spinner! =)

  8. 1)  YES

    2)  YES

    3)  Solution- get a ball for your hamster to run around in

    - put the cage somewhere where you cant hear it at night

    - if the wheel is squeaky then put a little olive oil onto the metal bit, this will stop it squeaking hopefully

  9. 1- Nope!

2- Nope, I use quiet wheels, and if there is squeaking I use olive oil to make it stop.

  10. 1)Yes it does but then you also think awww how cute!

Solution: Get a cage that has a wheel u can take out at night for example Critter Trail Y: i have this cage and you can lock the wheel off but they just scratch on it which is even louder so u could put something like pink tack on both sides of the wheel to stop it from spinning in the wheel (ps during the day if u dont let it go in its wheel at night let it go eitehr in its wheel or in its ball)

    2) CRITTERTRAIL Y the wheel in there is not very loud unless its not connected on properly

    ANOTHER PROBLEM:

    IT BITES ON THE BARS!

BUT IF YOU PUT SOMETHING AROUND THE CAGE TO STOP HER BITING THEM OR GET SOEMTHING TO KEEP IT OCCUPIED THEN SHE MIGHT STOP!

    PLEASE TAKE NOTE:

they can be annoying at night but if you keep them healthy and happy, its worth having one!

tell your mum this ......... My mum said no at first then we so confident in getting one and spoke to our friend who have them and found out whetehr its worth it then my mum let me! My hamster is so cute and im so happy i got her on that day ! Hint get 1 from pets at home, they are so cute and tame!

  11. i was clever and got a 100% silent wheel from pets at home : )

it looked pretty cool aswell !

  12. 1. Use too

    2. We now have a  quiet wheel

    They are so much better.

  13. 1. At first yes, later, no.

2.Yes!!!!!! It is, if it makes noise, like squeaking you CAN put WD-40 on it, this does not harm the hampster at all. If the Hampster tips the wheel over often, duct tape it down and cover it will bedding, or get dubble sided duct tape and do same thing, but this way when you put bedding on, the bedding can not be moved. I have had my hampster for only 6 months now, and it does not bother me.

P.S. If you find a Teddy Bear hampster, they are usually the most sleepy, and friendly, so the only run on the wheel about 1-2 hours a night , unlike other they go 2-6.

If you get a new hampster, have fun!!!!!

  14. 1) Get a silent wheel.

    2) Get a silent wheel.

  15. 1) Yes

    2) Yes - so put the hamster in another room at bedtime or take the wheel out of the cage at night.

Next hamster related question? Come on Mum - let him have a hamster!

Hey  - who gave me a thumbs down? It wasn't Mum, was it? Yikes!

  16. Short answer yes

the bedroom is not a great place for any rodent

the fine just not in your bedroom the best place for them is your young brother's bedroom! he he he he he he he

  17. 1.  Yes, they can get on your nerves on the wheel, but they are nocturnal and this is natural for them!  If you are a very heavy sleeper, and have them in your bedroom, this may not be a problem to you.  Otherwise you will need to keep them in a different room, where their night-time activities are less disturbing.

    2. Answered as above.

I used to have my hamster in a studio flat, one room, and had to put him in the bathroom at night.  It isn't fair to the animal to deny them their activities.  I now have 2 chinchillas as well, but live in a flat with separate bedrooms - all animals are happy and I get my sleep!

If you keep them in a room away from you, noise wont be an issue.

There isn't just the noise problem, there is also the cost of the upkeep and possible vets bills that you have to take into account.  Who will be paying these?  Talk it through with your mum as there is still lots of responsibility to owning a hamster besides the noise.  If it is just noise that is a problem, then maybe look at giving daytime rodents such as gerbils a home.  They are just as much fun1

  18. Hamsters can be good, but yes they do have their trying moments. Like the wheel for instance. I recommend you not get a wheel. You don't want them running around too much, it toughens their meat. A nice, tender gerbil is a true delicacy! Don't let them get on your nerves, put them on a plate instead, with a nice parsley garnish.

  19. 1) Yes

    2) Yes

they also hurt when they bite - but they are great little characters - we had one that could open a biscuit tin! just don't keep it in your bedroom then you won't be disturbed at night

    ~x~

  20. 1. I have gerbils, and they use the wheel. The cage is in the living room, but I can still hear it at times. However, I have gotten used to it, so it does not bother me anymore.

    2. It can be noisy, especially if you have not get one of the quiet wheels.

Hamsters are mostly active during the night, so really having it in your bedroom would be a bad idea, much better to have it in the living room or kitchen or somewhere nice and airy.

  21. 1) nope you can put but if it bothers you you can put a thin piece of tape around the part that squeaks thats wut i did

2)not wit wut i did and it depends on if its a metal or plastic wheel

  22. 1) omg yes

    2) omg omg OMG YESSSSSS.! DONT GET ONE!

  23. 1. Yes the noise did get on my nerves.

    2. Yes it is noisy when it runs in the wheel.

At night time I remove my Hamster from my bedroom into the spare room, I cant sleep otherwise.

  24. 1. No b/c I knew ahead of time that hamsters are noctournal and that he would run AND drink at night (which can also be noisy), so I put him in the living room away from my bedroom.

    2. Depending on the wheel that you get, a plastic one is a bit less noisy, but like i siad the water bottle can be noisy too.

  25. I like cheese

  26. they are kinda noisy at night but i dont really notice it anymore

  27. 1)Yesh, But I'm a heavy sleeper. Also Silent spinners are good, they are actually silent.

    2) Yes.

  28. 1) Yes, it get on my nerves. My suggestion, don't put it in your room.

    2) Well, even if it says silent wheel, it really isn't. It's not really noisy, but it's annoying.

  29. Yes.

    Yes.

I take the wheel out or move them when it keeps me from sleeping.

  30. well yes it does get on your nerves..x

    and yes it is noisy..x

but wat i do is if you have one of them plastic cages with the plastic wheels (that is on the outside of the cage) you can stick a pencil in between the border of the wheel and the bit that spins round so that at night the hamster cant run around and keep you awake..x and if you have a metal cage where the wheel is on the inside you can detach it at night..x good luck..x

  31. When I had a hamster, he was quite noisy at night, since that was his time of activity. It was difficult to fall asleep/stay asleep with the hamster in my room.

It can be noisy, if you do not invest in a silent wheel.

I just moved the hamster into the living room during the night, so he could be active and I could still get a good night's sleep.
