Question:

Do Hindus worship snakes, cows and trees?

One day I asked a Hindu why he worships snakes, cows and trees in spite of being highly educated and he became upset. So I thought it was a wrong allegation. But I recently saw them celebrating "Nag Panchumi", festival for worshipingng snakes. Similarly many Hindus drink cow urine. Is it not surprising in this age of information and knowledge?

  1. Yes - Hindus worship the Godhead in many various forms.

But, then don't Christians worship a dead man hanging from a stick, or that 3 Gods in 1 God "guy".  And the Muslims worship a black stone (Kaaba) in the middle of the desert.

Religions don't need to make sense -- they can not be rationalized - Faith is intrinsically irrational.

  2. Are you Muslim? And is that why you're hinting that Hinduism is a backward religion. Come on, get over it dude.

btw, they only worship gods who come in the forms of snakes, cows, monkeys and elephants. it's not like they catch snakes and bow before them. Fatal if it's a cobra!

cow urine? never heard that one before.
