  1. Permanent residency is not like citizenship. Whether you need a visa will all depend on the current passport that you carry.**

  2. u.s. laws don't apply to travel to Canada, they are still a sovereign country, somewhat different than europe

  3. On Monday morning check with the dept of immigration as with the new home land security acts , the rules might have changed most recently.

  4. nope. all you need to do is present your passport and green card and you're good to go.

i've done this numerous of times now (i'm a philippine passport holder) and will be doing it again on thursday.

  5. Actually, Canadian law states that you do not need a visa if you are a citizen of:

Andorra, Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Barbados, Belgium, Botswana, Brunei, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel (National Passport holders only), Italy, Japan, Korea (Republic of), Latvia (Republic of), Lithuania, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, Namibia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Papua New Guinea, Poland, Portugal, St. Kitts and Nevis, St.  Lucia, St. Vincent, San Marino, Singapore, Slovakia, Solomon Islands, Spain, Swaziland, Sweden, Slovenia, Switzerland, United States, and Western Samoa

or if you are a permanent residence (green card) holder in the US (you must show evidence of this at the border)

or if you hold any form of British nationality (ie British Dependent territories citizens, British overseas citizens, British nationality overseas etc)

or if you hold a Hong Kong passport

or if you hold a Vatican city passport.
