OK-Here's the situation-

A friend of mine was supposed to get married tomorrow. Two hours ago, he e-mailed to say that the wedding was cancelled due to unforseen circumstances, but the reception was still going to go on. Do I give a gift or not?

  1. I would definetly not give a wedding gift, but if you wanted to stick some cash in a thanks for the party card, I think that would be fine. Make it an even amount so it can be split evenly between the bride and groom.

    Hey, what happened to spellcheck?

  2. In my opinion, still buy a gift.  No matter what the circumstances is, what is spending for a gift he is your friend anyway.

  3. Entirely up to you - no wedding should = no gift but depending on the circumstances you may want to give them something - after all they're still paying for the party... or is only one of them having the party - then maybe a condolences gift...?   HOW SAD!!!!

  4. I wouldn't. But it's hard to say (because of not knowing the situation). I'd think the reception would be a little akward if it were for reasons like an argument between the ex bride and groom... but if it were canceled for a family emergency (or something to that extent) and the couple were still happy go lucky together... then still give the gift.

  5. YEAP ! I agree with PAX  No gift needed the deposits are non refundable so hey!!  have fun at the THANK GOD! party or maybe the What was I thinking party...

  6. No, why have a reception but not a wedding.  that's the whole reason.  I'd hold onto the gift and see if they get married later!

  7. its a wedding gift no wedding no gift that simple

  8. h**l No...the only reason why the reception is still going to go on is because they can't get their monies back and they decided to just have a party.

  9. Maybe just keep it in the car just in case, but I can't see any reason why you would have to if the wedding isn't happening. They are probably just having the reception because the catering, etc can't be refunded.

  10. well, he's not getting married, so there isn't a Wedding Gift.
