Question:

Do I Have A Cavity and Do Fillings Hurt?

I am fourteen years old. I have never had a cavity before. But right now I feel like I do. I brush my teeth twice a day but lately its been like once every other day because I have been superrr busy. One of my front teeth on the bottom row hurts whenever I breath in cold air or when I chew hot/cold food. Does this mean I have a cavity? If so, do fillings hurt????? I'm soooooooooooo scared right now! Help! Thanks in advance.

  1. Pain: Temporary sensitivity to hot or cold foods without recent dental work.

Meaning: Minor breech of tooth nerve or beginning gum disease. from curetoothdecay.com

It would be good to see he Dentist.

  2. You either have a cavity, a chipped tooth, or else you have sensitive teeth.  If it's a cavity, it's not a big deal.  I get fillings without the lidocaine (novacaine) or gas, and it really doesn't hurt too much.  The pain is just enough to make you cringe, but it's not going to like send stabbing pain through your skull.  Don't worry about it.
