Question:

Do I Still Have Time To Plant Yellow Squash In My Farm?

It is mid july, and I live in the Mountains of Western NC. I have had a very good crop so far this year despite the severe drought. I have a well, so i water my plants that way. My cousin really loves yellow squash and she asked if I can put some in. Do I have time?

  1. Squash is a warm-weather crop.  You should plant them NOW for another harvest as most varieties take about 90 days to harvest.  (Yellow Crookneck is ready in 55 days)

However, you can never trust Mother Nature.  If you get an early frost you lose your crop.
