Question:

Do I call a potential employer after I was told I would get a call Monday?

I was told I would get a call today from a potential employer to sit in on a class at the school where I want to teach here in Germany. I have gone back and forth with them for 3 weeks and am losing patience.

Should I call them tomorrow and just ask if this week is possible, or should I just wait for them to call me this week?

Training does not start until the end of this month if I do get this job, and classes would start in September.

  1. Go ahead and call, call now if you want.  just say you are going to be away from the phone the rest of the day so you wanted to check in quickly on this (or just ask them if you can sit in).  Its possible this could look a bit impatient but better a bit impatient than not getting a call because they forgot.  I've found that generally doing nothing causes more problems than anything.

  2. I don't think it would hurt for you to call tomorrow.

  3. Wait out the Monday, call them up on Tuesday and ask them if they are interested.  Since 3 weeks have already passed you should be selected, if they want to negotiate they may want to know how desperate you are.   So call them up and ask them if you have the job ?  If the answer is yes he will have to commit.
