Do I change the loft or shaft to lower my driver's ball flight?

I have a Ping G10 driver and the ball shoots high. To lower the ball flight, do I change the shaft (to a lower torque) or do I change lofts? Thanks.

  1. change where you play the ball from at address.

  2. Get the club fitted for a new shaft at your local pro shop or sporting goods store that has a pro shop. The shaft of the driver you have now sounds like it might have too much flex and it definitely has a very low kick point on the shaft. The higher the kick point is on the shaft the lower the ball flight is. So get the driver fitted for a new shaft that has a high kick point because the G10 is brand new for this year and not really worth it to buy a new club.

  3. You haven't stated the loft of your driver but the high shots can be remedied by a ball position where the club will strike at the very bottom of the swing rather than on the up swing. There, the flight should resemble the loft of your club.

  4. Less loft will keep the ball lower to the ground.

  5. loft increases trajectory...so it's loft

  6. First off....Torque is the shafts resistence to the club head turning through impact.  so it would have little if any effect on the trajectory of your ball.  The most common cause for a High ballooning ball flight is the actual contact with the ball.   A Too steep angle of attack will cause the ball to shoot up.  Merely changing lofts will not cause a significant difference.  I'd see a teaching Pro and have them look at my swing to correct this problem.

  7. I say shaft. less flexing the lower.
