Question:

Do I get charged court costs for seeing a traffic judge?

About 3 months ago I went to court for a ticket I received. I was driving without proof of insurance, and driving without headlights on during night. After showing proof of insurance that traffic judge excused all charges on my insurance charge. As far as my headlight charge she judged that if I didn't get another moving violation in six months the charge will be excused.

Am I going to be charged court fees after I visit court again in December?

If so what amount are court fees normally in California? (Fresno to be more specific)

  1. Are you, by chance, under 18?  It is only in juvenile court that I can imagine any such order being made.  If so, there will not be any fees.  You will complete your 6 months "probation," and the charge will be dismissed.

If you are an adult, I am flummoxed as to what authority the hearing officer had to make such an order.

  2. Yes you will.

someone has to pay the man to do his job.

  3. Are you sure you are required to go back to court? Most times, this is just a warning and if you don't get another violation, it is automatically dropped. If you go to court, you will probably be paying court costs.
