About two months ago, my two best friends and I moved into an apartment. The security deposit was about $600, and my two best friends and I each put in $200 for it. Now that I am moving out of the apartment, is it possible for me to get the $200 I put in for the deposit?

  1. i would ask the landlord or whoever manages the apartment. i don't know if only one of the renters move out if they get there part of the deposit back. can your other roomates pay to cover you half then you might get it back

  2. Not until after the lease is up, unless one of your friends wants to give it to you out of their pocket

  3. No. If you are on the lease, you're still responsible for that apartment until the lease is up or unless the landlord allows you to take your name OFF of it. The deposit is for the apartment -- not for each person LIVING in it.
