Question:

Do I get points from an accident if no ticket was issued at the scene of the accident?

I was just in an accident where I hit a parked car. I was not given a ticket, so I was just wondering if that means I will be getting any points on my license (this is in PA, btw).

Also, I was driving my bf's car, so would I need to somehow give MY insurance information to the girl I hit? I gave her the insurance for the car I was driving since that was all I had. It doesn't seem right that my bf's family's insurance would go up when I was the one at fault. Is there any way I could ask that my insurance be used to cover the accident?

  1. First question, no points without a ticket and a judge issuing points as part of a decision on your ticket.

Second, your car insurance covers you driving someone else's vehicle, and you should give the injured party your information. The car was not at fault, you were as the driver.  Contact them and give them the correct information, and trust me, the BF's insurance company will not pay a nickel towards it if they're not at fault.. :)  They're pretty good about denying coverage.  LOL

  2. I think you can ask them to submit your insurance information instead of your boyfriend's.

You'll get points if it's reported to the Commonwealth. The police are responsible for reportable collisions, but the insurance company may have to report it as well.
