  1. Your earnings are withheld based on the amount of deductions that you have on your w-4.  Each deduction is about $50 per month or $600 per year.  Your filing status has no bearing on how much is withheld from your check, just the amount of deductions.

  2. Just go on welfare and have a kid. Then you barely get taxed and get way more back than you deserve at the end of the year.

  3. If you add an additional allowance to your W-4 for head of household, or for any other reason, they'll withhold less from your paycheck.  When you file your return, if you meet all the rules for filing as head of household, your tax will be lower than if you file single.  You do understand, don't you, that head of household requires that you have a closely related dependent, and that person lives with you unless it is a dependent parent?

  4. Head of Household is not an option on a W-4.  You select Single, Married, Or Married, withholding at higher single rate.

Just select Single and adjust your exemptions.  More exemptions equal more money in your check.  Just don't over do it or you'll end up owing money.

  5. sure!
