Do I have a chance of making the team?

Alright, this year I'm going to be a sophmore and I'm trying out for the JV Volleyball team at my high school. I did not play as a freshman and I don't really have much experience but my tryouts are aug. 20th and I still have camp ahead of me. I'm just worried because the other people are really good and we even have some freshman trying out that have had past experience. I'm a really hard worker but sometimes I just don't know how to do something so I hold back. What do coaches look for? Would they rather choose a more experienced freshman? Do I have a chance at making the team?

  1. If u r serious about this u should start ur training now considering that u r already behind most of the team.u should run like 2 miles a day. That would get u in shape fast. coaches looks for someone that give it there all. So be positive, never give up, and good luck!

  2. All you need to do is show up and work your a** off! If you show that you are willing to give 110% The coches will notice. Coches like to look for girls that are willing to put there everything into the team and the game! You don't need to have a lot of experience! What you can do if you are still worrying you can ask one of your friends that have played volleyball or someone that you know is going to try out and ask them if they can go over the basics with you! Well I wish you the best of luck!!!!!!

  3. It Does Depend...

The Coaches Must like your form and body build and how well you play and if your a team player..

You do have a shot just have confidence.

    Best Regards

    And

    Good Luck

  4. well, my brother made volleyball without any expierence or anything and he made number 11. if its really what you wanna do, go for it dont hold back even if its really hard. i can kinda relate to you with me and cheerleading. i had only decided to try out a year before tryouts and i made it by just an inch! when you finally get something right, you feel so great about yourself! i dont know much about volleyball, but i know one thing.. you should have a good height in a jump :) just try to shine in try outs and you have a better chance in making it. sorry i cant help you too much :(

  5. You have just as good a chance as any!!

It does take hard work and dedication,

but if you're willing, just go for it.

Don't hold back because if freshman are tryout out

you have to give them a run for their money.

Just use all the time you have left for practicing your skills,

and I would also suggest running a couple laps a day because you'll most likely be running in volleyball.

  6. I'll be honest.. If you didnt have any experience your freshmen year, the chances are pretty slim. I dont know about your school, but in our school that's how it is. The whole player selection is such like a stressful process for both the players and the coaches. Our school has a reputaion, so our coach selects pretty exclusively. If you have camp, work hard there and learn as much as you can. Also, grab a friend and do some basic drills with them as much as you can!!!! bump, set, and peppering! If you're a hard worker, so that at the tryout. You have to hustle and dont show "IM SO TIRED" attitude AT ALL! (not saying you would) Be really enthusiastic and be loud and call the ball alot! "mine" and "i got it". Coaches love players who communicate well with the other players during the game; cause it's REALLY important. It's a 50/50 that coaches might prefer a freshmen who sucks, but has experience over you. ONLY based on the fact that you have no experience at all. Right, now all you can do is practice hard at camp, practice at home, and then try your hardest at the tryouts! GOOD LUCK~
