Question:

Do I have a chance to get hired as an assistant roadmaster for the BNSF railroad?

I have only been employed with BNSF for a little over a year now, and I would like to start thinking about making a move up the ranks. I recently took and passed the FLS(Front Line Supervisor) test, which is a basic qualification for assistant roadmasters. But do I have a chance of getting hired with such little experience? I fear that without more time on the railroad, and without a degree, my chances are slim. Any answers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  1. Suck UP, I have seen it work more than once, But you need reputation of being good worker also, ,

    Best of Luck

  2. call the trans superintdenent and express your desire to move up

  3. If its a Union job then yes, as long as you have the highest seniority on the list they cannot bypass you.

On the other hand if there is some educational requirements then they can.

  4. Yes, it happens, a college degree looks good on a resume but not nearly as good as a good work history and a desire to move up.

You can do it, good luck, if you dont make it the first time, keep trying, and being willing to relocate is always a plus.

As you know, these jobs are strictly a "company" job and hired without regard to seniority or union affiliation.
