If I keep working hard can I improve my vertical by A LOT (like 6+ inches)??? I love volleyball and I want to go to a good D1 school and hit, do you think i can if i keep working?

  1. volleyball isn't just about how tall you are or how high you jump (even though it does give you an advantage)

it's also whether you can serve and hit as an outside

but if you can jump that high, yes, you probably have a future

  2. yeah! you do, for sure! If you have a good approach and can jump high, front row is just for you. Plus your young, so you have time to get better. You go girl!

  3. My daughter plays on a very competitive club team where everyone is shorter than her, she is 6'2".  Our libero is your height and plays front row for her high school team.  What I mean to say is , do not limit your self to playing front row.  Try all the positions and develop all your abilities.  The player I mention has committed to a top 20 D1 as a libero.  She will play left side for her high school this year.  Best wishes.

Oh, by the way, be careful of running to increase your vertical.  You need to work your quick twitch muscles by jumping rope and plyometrics.  Case in point, a starter for major D1 program killed her vertical by running 3 to 5 miles per day to keep in shape. She should have been doing volleyball specific excercises.. Hope you have a great season!

  4. Yes, you have a big  future in playing volleyball. With your height

of 5'7" and an touch of 9'4" you can be a very good player in this particular kind of game. "Practice makes Perfect", that is my motto that i could advice to you. Jogging could be a great help to build up your vertical approach. So, Just keep on practicing and do extra hard work for you achieve your goals of being a hard hitter in a good school that you have chosen.

  5. yes u would be a great hitter

  6. You definitely have a future in volleyball! Your height is a big advantage, especially as a freshman. Good luck!

  7. Ok, well lets start small.  It is great to want to goto a good D1 school but first let yourself develop.  Play a bit of all positions to make sure you are a well rounded player and market yourself around your junior year.  I really can't stress ball control enough.

  8. yeah im 5'9 and i love love love love the front row!

u have the height advantage just use it to make yourself better!
