I've been going out with this girl for about 9 months. We are completely head over heels for each other! I love her more than anything, but on the weekends I like to get a little tanked. Her father always has beer in the back of his truck and never fails to offer me beer after beer! My lady hates it and says its tearing us apart. I very rarely drink unless its a weekend, but I dont feel as if I have a problem. I'm a young college student and I like to have a good time and being stuck at her house bored out of my mind doesn't really leave anything to do.

I told her if you stop smoking I won't drink.. She just says that I those are two completely different things, and that smoking cigarettes doesn't alter the mind.

  1. Geez tell Grandma to lighten up, its just beer. Tell her stop nagging or else it will tear you both apart.

  2. There is an Alcoholics Anonymous saying that goes something like"It's not what you drink or how much you drink it's what happens to you when you drink." Basically, if when you drink you aren't beating her up , getting arrested ,or otherwise harming your or others' health and general well being than it's safe to say you probably don't have an issue.

  3. Well, I am in a VERY similar situation. It's not that I mind if my bf drinks a little on the weekends or whatever, because I like to do the same thing. It's just the simple fact that he drinks at EVERY social function, and I don't necessarily think that's appropriate. It hurts my feelings because it seems like he can't be with me or spend time with my family unless he's drinking. I wonder if we're really that unbearable to be around? When my boyfriend is drunk, he's not "abusive" but he does get very wound-up and sometimes takes little arguments too far. Although this is something that you two need to compromise on, try to see through the eyes of your girlfriend. If you really care about her like you say you so, then you will try and fix this problem before it gets too large to handle. Hope this helps =]

  4. You don't have a problem if you only drink during the weekends. And you are 100% right! If she wants you to quit your drinking, then she should quit her smoking! And trust me, they are not different. A drug is a drug.

  5. I don't think you have a problem either.

  6. Sounds like you both need help. "Thang", what language is that?
