I'm 19. I do not feel the need to drink everyday..but it is still frequent (more like once a week, if not more) . About 3 months ago, I drove drunk, blacked out, and totaled my car into a telephone pole near my house. I just got a new car. Still have the temporary plate on it, wonderful car. Last night I tried to not drink, but I did, got wasted and drove my new car about 15 miles. I am so disappointed in myself. Please don't tell me I'm stupid because I know I am. I just need help. I tried AA before and I just can't say no to alcohol. Once I drink I just can't stop drinking. What is wrong with me? How do I MAKE myself not drink and drive!!??

  1. no ur not i am and im proud of it.

  2. You need to learn self control. Nothing more nothing less. Learn to a little self discipline and you'll be fine.

This may sound absurd, but go find the Bloody Mary episode of South Park. It does a wonderful job of explaining the difference between alcoholism and problem drinking.

  3. Once you get a DWI or kill someone and be charged with Vehicular Manslaughter THEN you will LEARN.

    YOU Are Being IRRESPONSIBLE!!!

  4. give your keys to someone else who wot give them to you

  5. ride with someone else to where your going and then u won't have your car...take a taxi.........give your keys to someone else.........don't drink if your driving.....just remember that u could not only hurt yourself but someone else..and u would have to live with that every day....so just remember that when u wanna drink and drive.................

  6. I would def say you have a drinking problem.... I would suggest maybe going to places where alcohol isn't even a factor, that way you know you won't drink any. maybe find some new ppl to hang out with....

  7. I would say that if you binge drink(enough to black out and crash your car), can't say no to alcohol... you do indeed have a problem.  That's great that you tried AA before.  I recommend trying it again!  It truly is a matter of "one day at a time".  You say you can't say no to alcohol.  But if you just tried to do it "today" and not worry about what you will do tomorrow or next week, then you will be off to a good start.  Please go to a meeting near you and don't give up.  You're still young and if you nip this in the bud right now, then you will be much better off.  Also, don't let any of your friends make you feel bad or stupid for not wanting to drink..  what's cooler...not drinking or ending up in the hospital or jail?  Good luck!  I mean it.

  8. well that's good that you realize that you drink to much.  alcoholics don't drink everyday, there are some that only drink on weekends.  talk to your doctor and see if they can tell you where some meetings are or if an in patient or out patient treatment facility would be a better thing for you.

admitting you have a problem is the first step.  you are going in the right direction.

good luck and i hope that i helped

  9. You know you have a drinking problem or you wouldn't have to ask the question. If AA didn't help the first time, keep trying. Go to your doctor and ask for help there.  See a psychologist or psychiatrist about treatment options.

Don't try to go it alone because if you could do it all by yourself it would have worked already.  Good luck with working this out. Admission of a problem is the first step.

  10. You must realize that no good can come from it. You are putting your life and the life of others in peril. If you can't stop drinking once you start then you do have a problem, a problem that will eventually affect everything in your life, jobs, relationships, and money, not to mention the legal consequences. There is support for those that have failed at AA but you really have to want to change for anything to work. Maybe you should seek counseling to find out what drives you to drink so much.

  11. Technically, an alcoholic is constantly in need of alcohol and can't help but drink. If you chose to drink but can easily not, then you aren't really one. However, you said that last night you tried not to drink but still did. Maybe if drinking becomes part of your habits/needs, then you should seek some sort of help. Also, alcohol clouds your judgment-you can promise yourself only to have 1 or 2 drinks, but then, even if you aren't drunk or barely buzzed, you can forget or ignore your thought of not getting drunk. As for drink and drive, just remember its not worth it at all. Just always try to put yourself in a situation that if you do drink, you can crash at a friends or call a taxi.
