Do I have a good chance of getting paid for my work?

Question

I'm a 17 year old female trying to make some side money using one of my talents which is writing. I wanted to know, (please respond only if you have actually submitted any published work or know about the writing business), if I have a good chance of getting paid for my work if I submitted it in to a magazine such as "teen people" or "seventeen"???

I've been writing on a serious level for many years now and I have to tell you that it's somewhat rare for people to get paid anything substantial for their work unless they know someone.  I do, however, wish you lots of luck.
