Do I have a good shot at Harvard, UPenn, Georgetown, UMich?

Question

Okayy so these are the schools I am applying to, plus a few safeties. I am African American and I think I will get a National Achievement Scholarship (based on what I've heard). I am a upcoming senior and my high school is ranked 385 in nation.

Harvard would be a little bit of a longshot, but I read about that school and it is not as good as it sounds. The other schools are within your range... Do you live in Hillsborough county, because its the only county I know that you can have over a 5 gpa. Thats where I live

These days, with the huge increases in admissions numbers at all of the top-tier schools across the country, there are certainly no guarantees for any school, but it has become very hard to even judge whether someone is in the ballpark for a particular school.  As a recent Georgetown graduate and alumni interviewer, I will say this: it is extremely easy to look good on paper, and it is extremely hard to be that same person when doing your college interviews.  Therefore, you MUST be able to show that you possess the passion and drive to succeed at any school you interview for.  If you can convey that you are indeed the person you appear to be in your essays and other application material, this goes a long way.

No. You must Dazzle. My girlfriend had much more than that and she only got wait listed.

Honestly, go for it, they go by what they're looking for, and you might be it, but in the end its a c**p shoot.
